Registration windows are short and close to the minute. Put every date in \u00a74 into your calendar on day one.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Your accounts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need two accounts, and people mix them up constantly. Replace with the current academic year&#8217;s dates each spring, and add a line saying which year they apply to.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.2 How to register<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Search the <a href=\"https:\/\/gslbs.keio.jp\/syllabus\/search\">syllabus<\/a> and build a draft timetable before the window opens. Note which courses require a student screening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply for <strong>student screenings<\/strong> by their own deadlines (see 4.4).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register in K-Support during the first registration window. Then <strong>click the &#8220;CHECK&#8221; button<\/strong> \u2014 this is what verifies your registration contains no errors. Being selected does not enrol you. If you do not separately register within the deadline, you lose the place. Details: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.students.keio.ac.jp\/en\/sfc\/pmei\/class\/registration\/restriction.html\">Student screenings<\/a><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.5 Dropping a course<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cancellation period runs in late April (spring) and mid-October (fall). Some courses <strong>cannot<\/strong> be cancelled: Physical Education 2\u20135, study-abroad language courses, Special Research Projects, Graduation Projects, and courses from other faculties whose sponsoring faculty forbids withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.6 Course fields<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most undergraduate courses are assigned a field automatically. For courses from other faculties or research institutes you must set the field yourself \u2014 &#8220;04-01-01 Courses Offered by Other Faculties, etc.&#8221; or &#8220;90-01-02 Optional Subjects and Others&#8221;. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.students.keio.ac.jp\/en\/com\/class\/registration\/other-faculties.html\">Restrictions on other faculties&#8217; courses<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Language courses<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SFC teaches <strong>English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Malay-Indonesian, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Italian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Placement tests are held during orientation<\/strong> each semester. You must sit one before registering for any course above Basic 1 \/ Intensive 1. The schedule is posted on K-Support &#8220;News&#8221; at grade-announcement time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some lecture courses have paired content versions; choosing the content option records the course under a &#8220;Language Communication&#8221; field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Study Abroad language courses<\/strong> (A: 4 credits, B: 2 credits) run during the breaks. You must register for them in the semester immediately following participation, and <strong>they cannot be cancelled<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Programme site: <a href=\"https:\/\/language.sfc.keio.ac.jp\/\">language.sfc.keio.ac.jp<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. The GIGA Program and the GIGA Certificate<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GIGA (Global Information and Governance Academic) is Keio&#8217;s first English-language undergraduate degree programme, run by the Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies. The <strong>GIGA Certificate<\/strong> is a separate award recognising completion of designated English-taught coursework plus a language standard \u2014 you must apply for it; it is not granted automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><td><strong>Requirement<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Detail<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Eligibility<\/td><td>Open to all undergraduates in both faculties, regardless of year of study or admission route.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Fundamental GIGA courses<\/td><td>30 or more credits<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Advanced GIGA courses<\/td><td>10 or more credits (varies by certificate type)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Certificate types<\/td><td>GIGA-Governance (policy focus) and\/or GIGA-Information (technology focus), determined by your advanced course selection<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Language \u2014 GIGA Winter AO and other AO admissions enrolled in English<\/td><td>JLPT N2. Commuting to campus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SFC sits 3.5 km from Shonandai, the nearest station. Most people take the bus. A lot of people cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>9.1 Student commuter pass (<\/strong><strong>\u901a\u5b66\u5b9a\u671f\u5238<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlimited travel between the station nearest your home and the station nearest campus, loaded onto your existing Suica or PASMO. Available in one-, three- and six-month terms \u2014 longer terms are cheaper per month but riskier if the card is lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to the <strong>Certificate Issuance Service<\/strong> and apply for &#8220;03_Student Commuter Certificate for issuance of student commuter pass&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Print the Student Commuter Certificate (\u901a\u5b66\u8a3c\u660e\u66f8) at a convenience store or a certificate issuing machine on campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in the route, validity period and start date, then take it to a station ticket office or bus ticket counter to buy the pass.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Update your address in K-Support before applying<\/strong> if it has changed \u2014 the pass is issued against your registered address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pass can only be issued for the single most economical route between home and campus. At peak times the bus queue is long enough that cycling is often faster, and you are never at the mercy of a delayed bus before a first-period class. One rule to know: bicycles in Japan have to be registered against theft (\u81ea\u8ee2\u8eca\u9632\u72af\u767b\u9332) at the shop you buy them from, and a second-hand bike must be re-registered in your name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10.
